Looking Back On Our Engagement Photos

June 13, 2020

A close girlfriend of mine called today to ask about my wedding dress (she’s currently dress shopping), and if I had any pictures of it that she could use as a reference for what she’s looking to buy.  Her question sent me down the rabbit hole of looking at old pictures from my wedding, which then led me to our engagement photos.

I realized while I was reminiscing that we took our engagement pictures exactly 4 years ago this week.  I can’t believe how quickly time flies!  In 4 years we’ve managed to pop out 3 kids (2 of those were at the same time, but wow), move across the country to Virginia, and live in 2 different apartments and a townhouse.  It amazes me how much we can fit into the span of a year!

Our engagement session took place in downtown Minneapolis near the Stone Arch Bridge. Versatile Photography was amazing and we were able to do 2 outfit changes as well as shoot all kinds of poses under the bridge and on top of it to create the perfect shot. Toward the end it started to rain, but we didn’t care. Love will do that to you.

Our first outfit choice was a little more laid back, whites and blues.  For our second, we decided to dress it up a bit more with a suit and dress. I  loved that we got two completely different looks.  The more laid back version we shot under the bridge by the water, and the snazzier outfit choice on top of the bridge with the city in the background.  Both looks show off the two sides of our personality – we like to go out, but we also like to stay in.

If you're taking your engagement pictures soon, congratulations!  I'm so happy for you and I pray for God's blessings on your wedding and marriage.  I hope these inspire you and I look forward to hearing from you.

With joy, Jessica
dreams and visions, dreams from God, dreaming of an attic, going upstairs
By Jessica Hallstrom May 30, 2025
One element that the Lord has given me revelation into is when we're dreaming about certain parts of a house, and how that correlates to our waking life. Because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, often the Lord will show us things about our lives by having us dream about certain rooms in the house. He hides messages for us in symbols, in parable form, to give us instruction about certain parts of our life that He's highlighting for us to work through with Him. The attic is the top room of your home, and it correlates to the very top room of your spiritual body that houses the Holy Spirit: your mind.
dreams and visions, hearing God's voice in dreams
By Jessica Hallstrom May 8, 2025
In the very near future we're going to see the Spirt of the Lord poured out like never before- and something that will happen with it is the giving of dreams and visions. All throughout the Bible, God used visions and/or dreams to speak to His people who were longing to follow His Word, leading and voice. They're available for you today too! Years ago, I prayed a prayer asking the Lord to give me visions and dreams. A few months later, the Lord answered that prayer and my dream life lit up in a wild way. God took me on an adventure over the course of the next few years as I dove headfirst into studying His Word about dreams.
renewed in the knowledge of Christ, visions and dreams, Holy Spirit, Jesus
By Jessica Hallstrom February 12, 2025
A few months ago I released a video on TikTok detailing a vision I received from the Lord while at women's Bible study one evening. Our Bible study would begin with a time of worship, moving into a Bible reading of the passage we would be studying, followed by a teaching taken from the text we had just read. One evening we were reading through Colossians chapter 3, and when we got to verse 10 the Lord sent me into a vision.
Jesus brings you peace, water lily
By Jessica Hallstrom January 30, 2025
There are certainly seasons that He gives us in which we are given peace and rest on all sides- but when do we most often crave that peace that surpasses all understanding? It's during times of evil and intense hardship that we cry out for the Lord to put our hearts at ease! And during these times when we call on Him, He will come forth in the person of Jesus and lead us in His everlasting peace, with grace and mercy. We need His peace most when our circumstances lack the light.
